SOMETIMES HAPPENS
I park the car by the lake, get out, take out the tripod, position it, and then take the reflex. I do everything calmly while my gaze scans the water and the sky in search of birds and, above all, birds of prey.
All around is peace and silence, broken only by the squawking of some distant geese.
It takes quite some time before I realise that a hare is blissfully stuffing itself with flowers and grass just a few meters away from me. We look at each other, and this time I'm more surprised than her.
For a moment, I remain motionless, as if the roles had been reversed: the hare, in fact, is used to either running away immediately or crouching down and remaining completely still, thus trying to evade predators.
I smile as I realise that I'm doing the same, now careful not to make any sudden movements so as not to scare her before taking some pictures.
But this hare doesn't seem to care at all about my presence, and she leaves me all the time for a few shots and a couple of videos, always keeping her gaze fixed on me.
Then from the sky comes a shrill "pii-eh" launched by a buzzard that flies over us.
And the hare decides it's time to say goodbye π°π
